Can't hardly believe...

that my baby boy is fourteen today.  It seems like yesterday that we were sitting in the neonatal intensive care unit at Candler feeding him with an eyedropper.  Being brand new parents to a sick baby was overwhelming and heart wrenching, but God had given us a blessing that we just didn't fully understand at the time.  The truth of the matter is, we probably still don't fully understand.

Matthew changed our lives in so many ways.  But the most immediate way was how full our hearts suddenly became at that very moment. The way we looked at situations was so different.  The things that seemed so important just days before were long forgotten. The focus of our daily lives shifted.

Yes, things were different.  But that difference is still evident fourteen years later.  Matthew continues to be the center of everything.  One might even accuse us of having a spoiled rotten child (and of course they would be right).  But, we wouldn't have it any other way!

As the Book of Psalms proclaims, "Sons are a heritage from the Lord".  We are truly blessed parents and love our little boy so very much!

Yes, Matthew provided me with about 50 shots of him acting a'fool...

But only ONE of an actual smile.  NUT!

Happy birthday Matthew!  We love you!
